Antarctic adventure: Next step for eco-boat earthrace

A new adventure awaits Peter Bethune and the innovative Earthrace team. Having completed their historic round the world voyage, 100% biofuel eco-boat, Earthrace has joined Sea Shepherd as part of a whaling protest in Antarctic this summer.

The Earthrace boat has been repurposed to join the protest against Japanse whaling in the southern seas. New Zealander Bethune said he decided to become involved because "this is happening in my backyard and it really pisses me off. I'm going to make a stand alongside Sea Shepherd. The whaling fleet will find it hard to get away from us."

The boat was relaunched at the viaduct floating pavilion on Friday 16th October. Now painted jet black, along with a few other modifications, it now resembles a stealth bomber. The boat, Pete and crew from Sea Shepherd are off to the Antarctic to chase the Japanese Whalers. They have lots of tactics up their sleeves so keep a look out for this boat in the news.
