Storm Uru & Peter Taylor Win Gold

Waikato Motor Group proudly congratulate the lightweight men's double scull pair Storm Uru and Peter Taylor, Gold medal winners at the final World Cup regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland.

In a closely fought race, the duo put in a scintillating finishing sprint to put clear water on the field by the line. As with New Zealand's other small boats, Taylor and Uru seem to have a growing confidence with which to take control of a race.

“To be part of a successful crew is a great feeling to know that all the hard work is paying off, and to be achieving what has been the dream is something I cannot describe. However to be part of a successful team is something quite different altogether. . .  we all ride this rollercoaster together and when things all just click it is a great atmosphere and environment to be part of.” Storm Uru

This fantastic result proves the team remains on track for a great build up to the World Championships in Poland next month.  In Peter’s words: “Today was a very good day.  May it continue.”

WMG have been partners in Hyundai’s Pinnacle Programme and provided Storm with a Santa Fe and now Peter with a Tucson that they can fulfill their training obligations as elite NZ rowers and meet with specialised mentors to advance the cornerstones of the Pinnacle program.
